Matrioshka nesting dolls symbolize the continuing cycle of life in the female line: daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Mutti's Matrioshkas banner is dedicated to my mother Lydia Alles Miller, 1908-1992, also known as Mutti, and to all my German Russian foremothers. Mutti's matriarchal lineage carries on in my two daughters, five granddaughters and one grandson.
